     Maria van Kempen married (RK) Martinus Caeter, son of Jurien Hendrickse and Maria Hendrickse, on 27 Oct 1754 at Boxmeer. Witnesses were Henricus Caeters and Joanna Peeters.2,1,3 She died on 7 Oct 1794 in Boxmeer of dysentery.4,3

Other information:
     A Godefridus Jacobus, son of Martinus Caeter and Maria van Kempen is bapt. (RC) in Boxmeer on 3 Jul 1758. However in his death certificate in Groningen, his parents are listed as Hinderikus Katers and Maria Rijken. His son-in-laws register the death, so one may assume that they knew what they were talking about. At his marriage Jacobus is however Jacobus Marten, which could point to a father Marten/Martinus. Also Jacobus' daughter names two sons Martinus, which is not a name that occurs in her husband's family.
His age at death is 73, and in 1813 he is 57, which would fit with the 1758 date.1

Marten Katers and Maria van Kempen, spouses, declare, to prevent further costs and because Mr. Verheijen put a lien on their property, to get the 100 guilders and interest, that they owe to the late Ansem Huibers, and for which Mr. Verheyen was a guarantor, and the lien of Peter van de Bogaard, to turn over their property to Mr. Verheyen and Peter van den Bogaard.8

Martinus Caeter and Maria van Kempen, spouses, sell to Mr. Henr. Verheijen a new farm, measuring 1 morgen and 94 roeden, bordering Hermannus Hutteman. Witnesses were L.F. de Raet, J. Hermans, Johan van Dijk, and F.W. de Both, secretary.11

Derk Knuiselder and Agnes Haanen, spouses, sell to Martinus Caeter.12 and his wife, a house and garden, located here at the Biest, next to the farm of Henrik Berns, size about 11½ roeden (the size of a roede varied with the region; here it was probably around 30 m2, c. 323 ft2)


Name variants: Maria Rijken (in Jacobus' death certificate.)3
