     Jacobus Katers was born in Boxmeer.2,4 Jacobus was baptized (RK) on 3 Jul 1758 at Boxmeer. Sponsors were Godefridus Camps and Dorothea Caeters.3 He married (RK) Hermine Sweijen, daughter of Harmannus Sweje and Pieternella Klaassens, on 10 Dec 1786 at Nijmegen (She was militair). Christina Boekhorst and Cornelia Salden were the witnesses5,2,6 (banns (RK) 19 Nov 1786, Nijmegen)5 7.5 He died on 4 Oct 1831 in Groningen (S 175 rood). Hindrik Berends de Haan and Rein de Boer registered the death.1,8

Jacobus Katers was in the military, and later a store keeper2,9,4 He died intestate.10
He was a soldier in the Regiment of the Lord Prince of Baden.11
     A Godefridus Jacobus, son of Martinus Caeter and Maria van Kempen is bapt. (RC) in Boxmeer on 3 Jul 1758. However in his death certificate in Groningen, his parents are listed as Hinderikus Katers and Maria Rijken. His son-in-laws register the death, so one may assume that they knew what they were talking about. At his marriage Jacobus is however Jacobus Marten, which could point to a father Marten/Martinus. Also Jacobus' daughter names two sons Martinus, which is not a name that occurs in her husband's family.
His age at death is 73, and in 1813 he is 57, which would fit with the 1758 date.3
